31st October 2011 - Las Vegas NV to Bakersfield CA

I think they do the advertising by means of vinyl sheets which are perforated so you can see through them if you are close to the screen. This is on the Rio. No idea who Penn Teller is.
And so we leave Las Vegas, pausing at the last casino in Nevada at Jean. There were huge queues for gas at $3.99 which I thought was expensive.
I thought it can't be any more in  California - but it was - we paid $4.99 which is almost European prices!
Now heading west through the Mojave desert. It really is barren. I'm not sure what this is but it may be a tower for a collector for a solar power station. The surrounding field will be filled with mirrors. They are very big on alternative energy in California.
You quite often see a small airport with lots of aircraft. It isn't that it is busy, but the dry atmosphere is good for storing surplus aircraft in.
More alternative energy - wind power this time. But each unit is much smaller and thus lower power than they are building now. And at least 50% were not operating.
We've seen quite a few installations looking like this. But we have no idea what they are.
