The South Riding RV Travels

10th - 12th May - Perula, Jalisco, México

We eventually reached the tiny village of Punta Perula. This has three or four sites but we chose the Hotel Playa Dorada. It turned out to be a good choice because most of the others were closed.
We had another beach-side site and, if anything, this was better than the last because we had no wire mesh spoiling the view. You could walk for miles.
.There is an island out in the bay but we never found out what its name was. We could only identify where we were by GPS - this place is not on any of our maps.
The surf is good, a point which attracts surfers to several of the beaches around here. We thought the noise might keep us awake, but it didn't.
Sometimes there is an extra load crash as a particularly large wave arrives. It is quite shallow from the beach to where the waves break, then it shelves rapidly where the wave action has caused erosion.
The site has no shade but it does have the sea breeze which helps to some extent. The weather dipped just a little and it got quite muggy at times. But we still had sunshine almost all the time As you can see we are parked right next to the beach and the right way round. No other RVs on site.
The awning provides shade but we can still look out and watch the sea. Jan always wanted to live by the sea. She really liked this spot.
Mostly we just sat and read or did other sedentary things. The hotel is behind me at this point. It too seemed empty but it does have a pool and WiFi, and we had showers and toilets.
And coconuts! These were beginning to look like a potential hazard.
The hotel courtyard has more shade and we would have been welcome to sit there but we were quite happy where we were. The owner speaks pretty good English, and was proud to tell us he had been to England and Scotland..
Out in the bay, the Mexican navy arrived for a while then disappeared. They are making a very visible attempt to clean up the problems and apparently are doing much better than the Americans give them credit for. I suppose there is always an information and perception lag.
