is based in a recycled Victorian school and is run by and for the local residents. What it lacks in sophistication, is more than compensated by the flexibility of the building and the warmth, hospitality and creativity of the staff. The project is home to many groups, and works with disadvantaged people and people with special needs. Several performing arts groups are based at Burton Street, and at least four local Morris sides have practiced in the rooms at one time or another.
Its three buildings contain a variety of rooms and halls which will accommodate indoor camping (noisy and quiet ), musicians sessions, a hall with a bar facility attached for a Saturday evening social .There are also catering facilities.
The project has a fully registered child care facility which will be available during the weekend. An additional charge will apply for this service. Burton Street's 'claims to fame' include an official opening by Prince Charles (Hmmm!) and as a location for the film "The Full Monty" (The school and the dole office).
