These programs enable you to find all the places in the UK/US within a short distance of a target place. They are useful to provide a list of other places to search for when you can't find a person in the target location. They are based upon a database of 45000 places in the UK database and 189000 in the US database and were partly written to demonstrate database performance possibilities. Written for Justin Masters who extracts cuttings from newspapers related to people and mounts them on a website for Burt County Archives. The current site uses flat file technology. This uses a database which currently has some 3000 entries in. A search criteria screen has been added which will enable faster and more
targeted information to be obtained. The search screen is designed to cope with data from multiple newspapers and other sources. At this stage it is a demonstrator.
In style it matches his existing site. Only the method of supplying the data
is changed.
